About Me
Hi, I'm 50 something married with grown up family and live in East Kilbride. Husband and I are both interested in travelling within Scotland and Ireland in particular as we love both countries and culture. Having researched our geneology find that on both sides we have (half and half) Irish forebears who left at the time of the great hunger. We are also interested in the preservation of the Gaelic culture of both countries as well as the music and dance (and whiskey/ whisky). The photo is the lovely Isle of Gigha (you can almost touch Ireland from there) |

About Me
My great grandparents Michael FitzGerald and Helen Sweeney were from Cork, as thousands of Irish men and women they were forced to emigrate in order to survive. I was born outside Ireland and have never lived there. But my Irish roots are strong and my love of Ireland is deep, the passing of time and of generations have not weakened this attachment.
My childhood memories are filled with Irish songs that my dear grandfather sang, songs that he had learned from his mother.
I am very interested to learn more about 'our history'.

About Me
I was a graduate student at Drew University.I was studying the Great Hunger and am appalled. I come from an Irish heritage, but I don't call myself Irish and I don't call myself a christian. I have been trying to write about the Brits starving the Irish people, but become enraged and have to quit. But since I am a glutton for punishment I persevere. |

About Me
My name is Jessica. I have loved my Irish heritage ever since I found out about it. I didn't hear about what went on from 1845 to 1850/51 until I was in college in the summer of 2010. I was appalled when I learned that what I was taught wasn't the truth. So I set out to find out what really happened and was shocked at what I'd found. I had always known that there was tension between the Irish and English but never really knew why other than other events in history, but this really took me by surpise. I am an aspiring screenwriter and have decided to write a screenplay about what really went on. Although based on historical accounts, the characters- as far as I know, are fictional. I want it to be as histrorically accurate as possible so I greatly welcome any information that can be given whatsoever. |
