About Me
Born in Belfast, immigrated to Toronto in 1957. Attended the opening of 'Ireland Park' on on Toronto's waterfront, near the site where famine ships landed. Famine graves in nearby graveyard. Ceremony attended by Irish president, Irish Ontario Premier, Irish Canadian Federal finance minister, Irish Toronto news broadcasters, and thousands from Toronto's Irish community. Very moving. This was genocide! Great site!! |

About Me
Tá beag ann Gael Linn agam, agus tá an spéis agam stair an Éireann ann. I probably botched that something horrible, so I'll revert to writing "as Béarla" a moment, haha: I'm deeply interested in Irish history, and feel that the Irish story is one the whole world should pay attention to for its lessons and cautions. The Irish have proven that a people can overcome the worst kind of oppression and come out on top in the end. It's an inspiration, not just for groups that are still entrenched in the battle of throwing off their chains, but for every individual on this planet who faces the judgements, restrictions, and confinements of every day life in a modern society that constantly tells us what we must say, do, buy, and consume in order to be "good enough". Even if I didn't have an ounce of Irish blood in my veins, I would surely look upon the history of Ireland in this way. I feel truly blessed that the my ancestors have called me to the study of this rich history, and that the true story is finally coming to light in the form of this site and many more resources to come. Thank you so much for creating this site and the Facebook page as well! |
