I truly hate this picture...it illustrates what the British mentality was towards their view of what the Irish people were. Is anyone surprised?

Notice how they Lion is regal and royal, poised as if ready to turn and pounce...while the Irish "monkey" is dressed in that of a "Court Jester"...or better yet, a Fool, with his sharpened stick spear and flaming torch, suggesting that of an uncivilized barbarian....yes, I truly hate this picture.
