'An tOcras Mór' The Great Hunger.

About Me

I try hard to earn a living providing cultural, historical, political and sightseeing tours in Ireland based in Belfast and around County Antrim.

I earnestly endeavour to provide a quality felt life experience for all visitors in an authentic, informative, enjoyable and sincere manner.  I highlight the folklore of the area visited and the rich mythology of my country.

I include when possible a clearest understanding of what shapes the pysche (soul) of our people and this includes their joy and their pain.  , An Gorta Mor - The Great Hungerthe penal laws are indelibly stamped into almost every stone and blade of grass in Ireland.  The countryside talks and many desserted wee family homesteads have their story to tell.  This is always implicit to any visitor as they wonder or connect to the history of our country.  The beauty of Ireland always provokes the thought and question in any visiting ancestor, Why would anyone leave such a beautiful land?

Our ancestors never left Ireland to find heaven... they were already there.  They left Ireland to escape a new hell that visited them for centuries including the Big Hunger.

Ireland is easy to love, it is richly blessed by nature and the gods.  This is not only reflected in our countryside but our people.

Cead mile failte gach !!  - One hundred thousand welcome all.

The poet’s word is sweet as bird,

Romantic tale and prose.

Of stars above and gentle love

And fragrant breeze that blows.

But write they not a single jot

Of beauty tortured sore.

Don’t wonder why such men can lie,

For poets are no more.

Bobby Sands.
